Building a Foundation for Growth and Sustainability

It is so important for us to work together as a community to not only ensure that West Kelowna is a great and desirable place to live and do business, but that the guidelines and principles that dictate our vision also create a sustainable community. - JF

Economically Sustainable

  • We need to ensure that our tax base will be able to maintain the ever increasing costs of running and maintaining an aging infrastructure

  • Increase density and mixed use developments in strategic locations

  • Create a plan, policies and procedures that will attract more business and investment to our city

  • Ensure that West Kelowna is known as a city that is easy to work with. We need to be “Open For Business and Investment”

  • Tourism! Continue to tell the world how great it is in West Kelowna!

A Community for All Ages

  • Attract businesses that will provide additional employment opportunities

  • Create a community that is SAFE

    • Continually evaluate and monitor policing levels to reduce crime

    • Invest in more sidewalks and biking lanes

    • Fire and flood mitigation; secondary exits (i.e. Glenrosa)

    • Clean drinking water

    • Support West Kelowna Fire and Rescue to ensure adequate staffing levels

  • From biking trails to pickle ball, we need to ensure that we are able to provide and support recreation for all ages within our own community.

  • As we continue to grow, ensure that all neighbourhoods have access to public transportation

  • Promote and attract government and private investment in affordable housing for all ages and demographics

  • Work closely with School Division 23 to monitor and ensure education needs and requirements are met. Ensure that the province understands the need for and prioritizes additional schools within our District

  • Continue to work with the Provincial and Interior Health Authorities to increase the level of medical service available to the residents in our community, specifically the need for urgent care.

Strategic Partnerships

  • It is imperative that we have a good relationship and collaborate with our neighbours; Kelowna, Westbank First Nation and Peachland

  • Open communication with our Provincial and Federal governments, working together to achieve the vision for our community

  • Support and promote the business that are currently in our community. Our current business owners should be a voice for our community to assist in helping us attract new investment and business to our city

  • Continue to support and promote agriculture, forestry, manufacturing and the associations that are related to those industries
